Carly, Dylan and Eli!
our little bruiser
January 6, 2007We returned home on Wednesday morning around 4 0′clock AM Eric and I decided to drive through the night because the kids were sleeping. So, we were so ready for the boys to go down for bed the following night, so we could turn in early. Eric had them in Eli’s room getting them dressed and ready for bed, Eli tripped and fell, and smacked his face on his train table. Long story short, we ended up in urgent care getting Eli stitches in his perfect little face. As you can see from this picture, the whole ordeal was a bit harder on ERic and I than it was on Eli. He was such a trooper. I had him in the Dr. office while Eric was driving around the parking lot with a sleeping Dylan.. As soon as they said Stitches, I called and had Eric take over. I think with everything we went through with Eli early on, I have to say, I’ve held him down enough for a lifetime. Besides Eric is WAY better at staying calm in those situations than I am. Other than making it very clear that he was “a big boy, and big boys don’t need stitches” Eli did really well. He even told the nurse that he didn’t “need sutures”. According to Eric the nurses did a really good job of distracting him from what was happening. If you get Eli talking about Cars, he pretty oblivious to anything else. We don’t think he even realized he got them. They put a band aid over them, and he made sure to tell everyone including the lady in the check out line that it was “for safety”. My sweet boy! I guess the hardest part was when Eric took him back to have the stitches removed on Monday.( Again, I couldn’t hold my baby down) He said that Eli wouldn’t let anyone near his face, and when Eric told the nurses he would try to take the bandaid off, it ended up taking 45 minutes. The whole time Eli saying” no Daddy, I love you, why Daddy?” Heartbreaking! Eric is so good with him. Needless to say, Eric was really drained after that! Anyway, he seems to be healing well. It doesn’t look too bad. I guess every boy has to have their first black eye.
